INTERNATIONAL DANCE CLASSES

The highlight of the DANCE ALPS FESTIVAL is its international program with highly qualified star dancers, choreographers, and instructors from all over the world. 18 Classes in 5 days for beginners, advanced, and professional dancers alike. In 3 different locations in St. Johann different dance styles of all kinds can be found, beginning with Yoga and Pilates, and reaching from Ballet to Jazz, Musical and many more. The international program is being framed by its Opening Party on the evening before the start of the classes and the Final Presentation, a staple part of the DANCE ALPS FESTIVAL, demonstrating the highlights of the previous days.

8.30 am - 9.30 am: TAI-CHI (open class)

A Chinese martial art, based on the unity of body and mind. Incorporating breathing techniques and tension and relaxation as contrasting forces, this workshop forms the base for the following Contemporary class.

9.45 am - 11.15 am: FLOW CONTEMPORARY (intermediate)

Using dynamic stretching and core training methods, Shinji creates expressive and impactful movements by connecting weight shifting and off-balance swinging motions in order to connect movements smoothly and surrender to the flow of the dance.

11.30 am - 13.00 pm: CONTEMPORARY (open class)

This workshop will explore the body–form and mind–intent of the professional dancer through contemporary dance technique training. The focus of execution will be based on intuition, intention, breath, and forces to further discover the possibilities of one’s body in the concepts of tensegrity and spiral rotation.

Mit ihrem eigenen Afro-Stil, bestehend aus einem Mix aus traditionellen afrikanischen Tänzen und modernen Tanzrichtungen wie Hip-Hop, Breakdance, Ma Piano und African New-School, möchten Atif, Eyes Roller und Romeo Kulturen verbinden und Freude vermitteln.

Influenced by several other dance styles such as contemporary, hip hop and ballet, this class focuses on placement, coordination, strengthening and flexibility as well as musicality, trying to enable the students to translate their personal experiences and feelings into dance.

17.45 pm – 19.15 pm: FUNKY JAZZ (open class)

Funky Jazz impresses with its precise movements and a combination of different dance styles, resulting in exciting and captivating choreographies that don’t just make our dancers sweat. At the Dance Alps Festival, we offer classes for beginners and professionals with loads of funky power.

19.30 pm – 20.30 pm: COOL-DOWN (open class) – 4 days

After a long day of dancing at the DANCE ALPS FESTIVAL you’ll have the possibility to stretch and relax your muscles and joints with Franziska Rall. The perfect way to end the day.

17.45 pm - 19.15 pm: MODERN (intermediate)

A blend of LABAN and the Alignment & Release technique which allows the dancer to immerse themselves into the movement; letting go and rising again, releasing from and rediscovering the foundational placement, thus refining their body awareness and perception of technique in a new way.

Training for body and soul at the Dance Alps Festival. A highlight not just for fans of Yoga but also the perfect warm-up for all dancers. A perfect start into the day.

9.45 am – 11.15 am: WEISSMANN CONTEMPORARY (open class)

With its roots lying in modern dance – while being highly influenced by Yoga – this technique uses a holistic approach to achieve a structured, highly physical, musical and dynamic fusion of styles. Movements that are traditionally considered “technical” become more organic, more full of breath, life and volume.

11.30 am – 13.00 pm: NEW WAY VOGUE (open class)

(16+ years) Having its roots in the LGBTQ+ community of Harlem, NYC, Vogue – also commonly known as Ballroom – is often seen as more of a language than a style of dance. Promoting confidence, freedom and self-affirmation, New Way Vogue is defined by graceful arms shapes, posing on the music and smooth transitions.

14.15 pm – 15.45 pm: HORTON (open class)

A Modern Dance-technique created by Lester Horton. Marked by a fundamental anatomical understanding of the body its connections, this technique aims to strengthen and stretch the body, with the torso at its core element. Characterized by detailed isolation and an exchange of a seeming standstill and rapid, percussively driven rhythms, Horton Dance technique is a MUST for all dancers.
